9th Annual State Conference 2020 – cancelled
Due to the unprecedented situation with COVID-19 Pandemic and recent Government Health advice we have made the unfortunate decision to cancel the CFA Vic Branch State Conference on 14th and 15th May 2020. We believe that the current ban on public gatherings is highly likely to be extended in the coming months. We remain hopeful this period will eventually pass but encourage you and your loved ones to stay safe, well and endure through this unprecedented time.
- For those that had already Registered for this major event, refunds have been offered and arranged as desired accordingly. If you have not as yet heard from us directly then please get in touch with our Conference Team if this is your request.
- Ongoing information will be released and communicated about further online events and training options to maximise educational opportunities during this period.

9th Annual State Conference Taster sessions
Our 9th Annual Victorian State Conference 2020 was going to be held over two (2) days from Thursday May 14th & Friday May 15th 2020.
As an alternative option several of our Keynote Conference Presenters are confirmed to deliver a series of individual evening online sessions over the month of May and beyond. Further speakers and dates for these sessions will be confirmed in the coming weeks – TBC
In line with our original mission these sessions will appeal to Continence & Health professionals from all walks.
The objectives of these sessions remain to:
1) Engage a diverse range of health professionals to strengthen and transform their local continence efforts
2) Examine new evidence and how it translates into practice
3) Provide current and potential members of the Continence Foundation of Australia with affordable state based education and an opportunity to network with their peers
- CPD hours will be available for your online attendance.
- These sessions will be provided free of charge.
You will have the opportunity to make a donation if you so desire that will assist us cover some expenses previously incurred as well as to continue to fulfill our Mission of Awareness, Prevention and Treatment. All contributions are greatly valued and appreciated.
Associate Professor Craig Hassed
online Session: Mindfulness and Self care for health professionals
Associate Professor Craig Hassed OAM has been teaching within the Faculty of Medicine at Monash University since 1989, and is coordinator of mindfulness programs across Monash University. His teaching, research and clinical interests include mindfulness, mind-body medicine, lifestyle medicine, integrative medicine and medical ethics. Craig developed and integrated into the Monash medical curriculum the world-first mindfulness-based healthy lifestyle course called the Health Enhancement Program. He has authored over 100 papers in peer-reviewed journals and is regularly invited to speak and run courses in Australia and overseas in health, educational, government and corporate contexts. In 2019 Craig was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for services to Medicine.
Dr Joan Ostaszkiewicz
online session: Managing Incontinence: A Wicked problem
Joan Ostaszkiewicz is employed as the Director of Aged Care Research Division at The National Ageing Research Institute. She is a Registered Nurse with clinical and academic expertise is in the management of incontinence in frail older adults and in workforce models to promote evidence-based practice in residential aged care homes. Her PhD and postdoctoral work resulted in a new conceptual approach to continence care for people with complex health conditions who are incontinent or who require assistance to maintain continence

Thank you to the IPPG network who had generously supported this event and others. Scholarships opportunities are subsequently on hold and conversations are in progress about future options.
